how I feel

I read a post today on a blog from someone that use to be in my group, that left last week. This person was putting down ladies that crochet and use the same patterns over and over and that sit on there sofa and crochet. Well this is how I feel about that subject! I crochet what I want to crochet, yes I use the patterns I am comfortable with. I make sweaters using about 4 different patterns and the same with blankets & dresses. Does that really matter to a mother who receives our gifts?? I really don't think they care if Tommy has a sweater in blue and Daniel has one in white and they are from the same pattern. Do you?? I make as much as I can for all the babies we serve. Does that make me bad?? I don't think so. what about you? I would love to have some of your opinions on this. I would rather make 100 sweaters all alike, just different colors than to spend all my time knitting or crocheting 1 items. I run a charity. which means I want to help as many babies as I can. If making items with the same patterns makes me bad? then so be it!!

  1. Danette: I have run into this situation myself. I have said this before you an inspiration. I also crochet and knit for charity and tend to stick with the same patterns time after time.. I am comfortable and I can crank them out faster. How sad that anyone would even make an issue of it. I agree that it does not matter if its the same, these parents are soo grateful that you took the time to make something for them. Keep up the great work!

  2. I have a passion for crochet(wish I could knit faster) and I love making baby items(can't write patterns fast enough)...The "Thank yous" that have been recieved makes it all worth while for me..So sorry someone would feel this way....maybe more prayer is needed in their life.

  3. Danette, I agree with you 100%. There are lots of babies out there that need something warm now! Not just a few but thousands and thousands of babies. We need to make as many as we can as soon as we can and using the same patterns over and over just means more sweaters, blankets, etc. that can be delivered sooner rather than later. You are a very good person to run God's Tiny Angels. Don't let anyone put you down! I personally would like to give you a crown and angel wings!

  4. I use the same patterns over and over too. Like you, I would rather crank out more items than take the time to figure out new patterns. There are just too many babies out there that need our help. I use patterns I am comfortable with and are easy to do simply so I CAN make more items. If someone has a problem with that, then they surely aren't truly worried about really helping the babies. I know we need as many people as we can get to help the babies, but we don't need people that worry about trivial things like if someone is using the same pattern over and over. What difference does it make as long as they are helping the babies? I say don't worry about people that have such petty thoughts and continue doing what you do, which you do extremely well. I feel privileged to be a part of your group :)

  5. thank you ladies, I think she slammed most crafters out there . I know alot of us tend to make the same pattern but hey at least we change the colors and look how many wee ones we help. Everyone keep up the good work, and I will say a prayer for her.......

  6. I, like everyone else, use the same patterns too! It's not like I am using the same pattern and the same yarn to make a million of the same color!!! Obviously this woman has nothing better to do with her time than to take out her frustration on other people. We all just need to keep doing what we are doing and let the whiners wallow in their pool of garbage! Keep on crocheting for the babies!!! Hugs and Love!!!
