sorry have not updated for awhile. I was busy working on a queen size afghan for my son & his wife. Took me 9 days working 10-12 hours a day with a g hook and the color was coffee by redheart. so glad to be back on the baby items. Here is one of the items made recently and some little snowmen & a puppy I got on clearnace for the little ones next Christmas.

this sweater set is made out of the new Simply Soft light. it is called real red. I would compare this yarn with bernat softee, maybe a tiny bit thinner. it really is nice yarn. So soft and I got the complete set out of one skein!!

I made this little dress from this pattern http://www.angelfire.com/tx5/angelcrafts/patterns/preemiegown.html I did join it in the back where I thought was appropriate and continued to work the pattern in the round. Also on the bottom I just did my own thing. I did sc evenly except in the V-ST I did 3 sc . there were no directions on how to do the neck so I sewed a small button on the back for closing. :-) the yarn used is red heart shimmer in white

It was easy to do just too time consuming for me as I like to make a newborn blanket in a day and half. this one took me 3 days!! it is sc and dc. the yarn used is the new yarn out by Red heart called "with love" color blue Hawaii. Love the yarn!!! I took a close up pic also so you can see the st. It will be a warm blanket.

I made this set up last nite. I did shorten the length as this is a 22 inch doll, I did 17 rows total on the sweater and 9 rows on the sleeves. bought this pattern from Herschnners. the pattern was simple but very time consuming(longer than I like) I love the finished product but I try to do as many blankets as I can for my charity and this one took me 3 days where most patterns only take me a 1.5 days. it also took a whole pound of love to make. I didn't really care for the yarn that came in the kit so substituted it.

I found this very pretty yarn Saturday at Hobby lobby. It was on clearance . It is by "Stella". anyway don't know if you can see it but it has a sparkle in it and I thought it would make a pretty sweater(and it did) but it was a bear to work with, It did not flow on your hook like it should . So happy I only bought 2 skeins.I would not use it again. It is acrylic and it looks thin but I started the sweater with and E hook and it was coming out huge so dropped to a C hook so it would fit a newborn.

this dress is made from a pattern at Bevs country cottage. http://bevscountrycottage.com/angel-wings-pinafore.html however I used a D hook and baby yarn to get it small enough for a newborn. :-) It is a very easy pattern to follow.

I love this pattern ( Joannes baby dress) tried sharing it with everyone but one person from NC decided they wanted to sell the finished product on ebay which was against the rules as it is a copyrighted pattern for charity only. So I took it down. Joanne was a very dear friend of mine who passed away a couple yrs ago. she created this pattern for little girls. I Love it!! She made so many of these for Gods Tiny Angels :-)

how I feel

I read a post today on a blog from someone that use to be in my group, that left last week. This person was putting down ladies that crochet and use the same patterns over and over and that sit on there sofa and crochet. Well this is how I feel about that subject! I crochet what I want to crochet, yes I use the patterns I am comfortable with. I make sweaters using about 4 different patterns and the same with blankets & dresses. Does that really matter to a mother who receives our gifts?? I really don't think they care if Tommy has a sweater in blue and Daniel has one in white and they are from the same pattern. Do you?? I make as much as I can for all the babies we serve. Does that make me bad?? I don't think so. what about you? I would love to have some of your opinions on this. I would rather make 100 sweaters all alike, just different colors than to spend all my time knitting or crocheting 1 items. I run a charity. which means I want to help as many babies as I can. If making items with the same patterns makes me bad? then so be it!!

She had been out and bought several outfits but they were all way too big. I took her 2 wee dresses and she was so greatful. so anyway that is why I have made so many preemie ones :-)

I bought this yarn on Ebay. It is called Ice Yarns (baby star) and it is from Turkey. I loved the color. She has this yarn in several different colors!! she also has some with spots on it. I want to try it next. I was very impressed with shipping as it took less than a week to get here!!!
